Founded Opt In, with the idea that a strong community of freelancing consultants existed who were open to the idea of collaborating on meaningful, high-quality work.
Launched a new educational non-profit, Generation TX San Antonio aimed at inspiring and informing the next generation of Texans on the importance of college and career readiness.
Initiated Rackspace Foundation for Rackspace Hosting. She led Rackspace’s Community Affairs department, which included the company’s governmental affairs work and the award winning employee volunteer group Rack Gives Back.
Keen experience in Public Affairs, leading Mayor Phil Hardberger’s education and workforce initiatives; including the creation of the city’s P16 Council and hosting the first city-wide education and workforce summit for over 500 community members.
Appointed to serve as an interim City Council member for the City of San Antonio, serving the great people of District 7, in August 2014.
Active member of the San Antonio Community. Mari served as Board member of the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women, The San Antonio Area Foundation’s Hispanic Fund, the San Antonio Public Library Board of Trustees, and led the Greater Chamber of Commerce IT Committee.
